Linda
Sereda was born and raised in Western Canada.
She started teaching swimming and gymnastics when she was only
twelve years old. At age
seventeen, she had a weekly 1/2 hr TV program during the summer.
Here she showed kids at home how to do various craft projects.
She also taught creative drama on playgrounds in the summer as well
as running a pilot program where she took a trailer around to the city
playgrounds in the summer and taught children basketry, leather tooling,
copper tooling and puppetry.
Ms. Sereda obtained her B. Ed. at the
University of Alberta where she also did graduate work towards a Master's
Degree. Around that time, she
decided that she wanted to experience as much of life as possible so she
could understand people better. As
a result, she has worked as a historical interpreter, waitress,
proofreader, paralegal, English teacher, English as a Second Language
teacher, bookkeeper, executive, graphic artist, printing company owner,
sign painter, calligrapher and Arts & Crafts teacher.
Last summer, she was one of
the judges of the childrens' art for the Artists for a Better World
contest. Recently, Ms. Sereda
was a judge for the Concerned Businessmen's Association's "Set a Good
Example" contest. For
years, she was on the Board of Directors of the Apollo Training Academy in
the Los Angeles area and she is currently Secretary of the Board of
Directors of the Barnsdall Art Center Student Advisory Committee (BACSAC).
Linda has been making jewelry
all her life and about a year ago decided to stop making jewelry as a
hobby and to share her creations with others.
She says about making jewelry, "I remember when I was eight years old
buying my first 'adult' beads -- a tube of seed beads -- and making my
aunt a pair of earrings for Christmas.
I've never really stopped since then.
My main joy in making jewelry is to create something that someone
else really loves to wear.
I hope you find something you
love!"
